Question: My cat will not stop scratching the walls!?

My 6 month old kitten is a scratcher - the walls, the doors, the door frame, everything. I have a cat tree / scratching post for them, but she prefers not acceptable locations claw. I try to build a coat tree wood for my entry. All I want is a simple design, no carved wood or anything with a few pegs as "real hands" or whatever they are called.
